The best time to visit Suriname is during the long dry season from early February to late April and the short dry season from August through early December. Rain is least likely in these months and temperatures stay pleasant (27–32 °C).
Suriname's four seasons
Suriname has four seasons: short rainy (Dec–Jan), long dry (Feb–Apr), long rainy (May–Jul), and short dry (Aug–Nov). Rain typically falls in short, heavy afternoon showers; mornings are usually sunny.
When most travelers come
The busiest periods are European summer (July–August) and the Christmas holidays. Book flights (KLM, Surinam Airways) at least 3–4 months ahead for those months.
What to do in each season
Dry season is ideal for interior trips (Brownsberg, Bergendal, Galibi). During the rainy season Paramaribo is still enjoyable, and higher rivers make Commewijne boat trips especially scenic.
